Rev Sok opens with a meditation on the meaning of Christ's ascension for us. In Word Work, Prof Dr Van den Os then writes about the special nature of God's omnipotence, using the name El Shaddai. This name is among the most common names of God in the Old Testament. In Nader bekeken, he explores how power functions in the church. Does it make sense to draw up an enquiry into the issue of power in our church context?
Commemorations on 4 and 5 May are covered in the book review of ‘Hide the expelled. Preachers who helped Jews - 1940-1945’. And Rev Schenau addresses a taboo in the Tweetaleen section: the willingness to die for your homeland.
In Generations in the Church, eighteen-year-old Jurjan has his say. He is taking final exams and hopes to be admitted to the conservatoire. “Faith is really a driving force for me in everything I do,” he testifies. In Pastoral, Leo Voorthuijzen gives reflections to a father who is ill at home: he has all the time but does not get around to reflection.
Furthermore, Gert Jan Zwart explains why listening to the other is central at De Pion in Alblasserdam. He also has a solution to many churches“ problem of finding volunteers. ”Give them gold in their hands," he advises.
The South PS met because of an appeal case. The PS has set up a committee to prepare the case and hopes to meet again 25 June. A motion to request the calling church of Hoogeveen to convene the general synod early was passed.
Finally, three church members are in the spotlight who received a ribbon last April.
