Eating together connects. People meet each other and contacts develop. A neighbourhood meal is a great opportunity to introduce people to the church and engage in a relaxed conversation about meaning and faith.

Many different forms can be imagined for such a missionary neighbourhood meal. It could be a simple cup of soup, in the village square or at an event. It could be a full three-course restaurant-style meal. Or something in between.

In Doorgeven, we showed how Bunde/Meerssen and Sliedrecht organise neighbourhood meals (May 2023 edition, Coming home to a meal). Get inspired by their example. Concrete tips and ideas can be found in the guide Neighbourhood Soup and in the brochure Meals in Missionary Work.
