At home in West and Assen Blossoms, two diaconal initiatives that originated from the CGK are contenders for the Appeltjes van Oranje!
Commitment to society
The Appeltjes van Oranje are awarded annually by the Oranjefonds to three social projects in the Netherlands and the Caribbean that work towards a society where no one is left alone. The prize for each of the three winners consists of a bronze statuette designed by Princess Beatrix and a cash prize of €25,000. The theme associated with this year's award ceremony is bridge builders in the neighbourhood.
Voting and pitching
This year, 38 projects are competing for this award. The online Vote ten-day held this month put Thuis in West (Rotterdam) at number 1 and Assen Bloeit at number 4! This is a fantastic result and the teams of both projects are touched and encouraged by the many positive responses from across the country.
For Thuis in West, this result means they have won one of the 10 nomination places anyway. The other nine nomination spots were selected by the Orange Fund jury on 17 June, after all 38 contenders pitched their projects at the Apples of Orange Ptich Day. Assen Bloeitit managed to secure one of those other 9 nomination spots with a good pitch. From the 10 nominees, the jury will choose three winners who will receive the prize from Queen Maxima at Paleis Noordeinde in October.
We wish Thuis in West and Assen Bloeit a successful continuation!
