It is only a few weeks since thousands of Muslims destroyed churches and houses in the Christian village of Jaranwala. Many Christians fled the village and are now bivouacked in a refugee camp. We started an emergency relief effort for them. What has since happened?
Encouragement with visits and emergency aid
A team from our partner YWAY has already visited Jaranwala and the refugee camp three times. They encouraged the refugees with their visit, prayed with them and distributed food parcels. They have also started taking stock of what has been destroyed and burnt. Herewith a video impression of a multi-storey building where several families lived.
Consultation
This work involves consultation with other social workers. There are such in our country and beyond. There is a good consultation body in which we participate.
The next step
After the inventory, recovery will be able to start. We are looking forward to this and hope to be able to contribute a lot.
