Noor* is expecting her fifth child. She is one of millions of Syrian refugees living in deplorable conditions in Lebanon. The government has its hands full with domestic problems and does not extend a hand to these displaced people. Fortunately, there are churches that do look out for them. Noor gets help from the Spring of Life Church, an Armenian church in Beirut: food, medicine and the gospel. And that changed her life.
The truth of the gospel
Pastoral worker Christina had visited Noor and her family many times. Over time, the family joined the church. Noor felt the truth of the gospel. The people she told about it ridiculed her and Noor soon decided to keep it to herself. Only Christina did she trust enough to tell that she had seen Jesus, in a vision.
A vision
Noor has a severe form of epilepsy and pregnancy is not easy. At a time when she is having a very difficult time, she has a vision. She sees herself lying in a white coffin, with many flowers around her. There was a sweet smell in the room. There is Jesus standing there, telling her not to be afraid; she will not die. She felt the warmth of Jesus' love and also that something was leaving her body. In that moment, she knew that Jesus had healed her.
Healed
The doctor explained that epilepsy is incurable and can only be controlled with medication. He was amazed: with Noor, the epilepsy had completely disappeared. Noor explained what had happened and even the doctor started praising God.
We hear more often of dreams in which Jesus appears to Muslims. The step to Christianity is a big one and Muslims converting to Christianity are under great pressure. Let us pray for the work of the church in Beirut. Their desire is to help as many families as possible come out of poverty and live a life in the power of Jesus Christ. Will you help?
