The latest issue of Doorgeven is out. The theme of this issue is 'Church outwards'.
The church as the church of Christ is called to witness. And we do this by going outward. This edition of Doorgeven is full of appealing examples.
For Joachim in South Africa, for example, church outwardly means caring for traumatised children. The people of Family House Schollevaar in Capelle aan den IJssel are church outward by visiting neighbours and connecting with their life questions. Churches in Nepal have joined hands to fight material and spiritual poverty. Mother Phom in Thailand witnesses very practically by helping neighbours in need. Guido Groeneveld literally goes out and builds a new congregation in Catalonia. De Pion in Alblasserdam gives attention to people who do not (or no longer) belong to a church, because 'even in the Biblebelt there is loneliness and hidden poverty'. Hilversum is church outwards with a variety of diaconal activities for people outside the church andn in Enkhuizen they dream of a church without barriers.
How is your congregation church to the outside world? We are curious to hear your big and small stories! Feel free to email them to a.frelink@cgk.nl.
