In an unnamed region of the Middle East, years of civil war have displaced many people. Food prices continue to rise every month and food shortages are looming.
Resilience
Community welfare is under severe pressure. Farmers have limited access to farmland and agricultural inputs. As a result, their harvests diminish and their incomes consequently fall. The displaced families also face social and psychological problems, as a result of the trauma they have suffered. Yet these people are resilient. They have adapted to the ever-changing circumstances and they have managed to pick up where they left off.
Seeds and equipment
We are helping farmers with this project to get back to pre-crisis production levels and capacity. Much has been disrupted and broken. The first concern now is to make seeds and fertilisers available. With that, growing food will begin. Further investments are being made in irrigation equipment, tools and agricultural supplies.
