The missionary community Hope for North is nineteen years ago in the district of Amsterdam
North started up under the leadership of pioneer Jurjen ten Brinke. The pioneer place has grown into a multicoloured and multicultural church. In Amsterdam Noord, Hope for Noord is a 'movement' of the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, in which people from diverse cultures and backgrounds find a spiritual home.
Hope for North is growing and so is the number of residents in the Amsterdam North district
rising sharply. This requires a different organisation of the municipality. Over the past two years, this has been worked on. After a time of reflection and consultation, Jurjen ten Brinke has indicated that it is now time to hand over his duties as pastor of Hoop voor Noord.
Farewell Jurjen ten Brinke
On Sunday 2 February, Hoop voor Noord will bid farewell to Jurjen as pastor. He will then be confirmed in his new role as 'church connection booster' in Amsterdam. In this ministry, he will work to connect different churches and ministries throughout Amsterdam.

Neighbourhood pastor Theodore Meedendorp
Hope for Noord started a reflection and exploration process and started looking for a new shepherd and teacher with a missionary heart, who can lead the multicoloured congregation alongside Theodoor Meedendorp in the coming years. Theodoor has been involved in Hoop voor Noord as a pastor-evangelist for ten years and is a connector between church and neighbourhood. In the coming years, he will be the 'neighbourhood pastor' of Hoop voor Noord even more than now, for non-churchgoing residents of Amsterdam-Noord.
Leon van den Dool new city pastor
In the search for a new city pastor last year, God brought together Hope for North and Rev Leon van den Dool (PKN) in a special way. Rev. Van den Dool was able to answer the question
of Amsterdam North did not ignore when God reaffirmed the call
with the text from Acts 16:9, "Come over .... and help us!" Rev Van den Dool is currently PKN
pastor in the reformed congregation of Broek op Langedijk.
Hope for North and the Amsterdam Protestant Church have entered into a partnership, so that
Leon van den Dool can be attached to the Amsterdam Protestant Church as pastor with special assignment and start work as pastor at Hoop voor Noord. He will be confirmed on 25 May 2025. In this way, the Protestant Church Amsterdam and Hoop voor Noord express that they jointly stand for churchgoing for Amsterdam.
