On Sunday 26 May, the De Akker church congregation in Vroomshoop officially joined the CGK.
The congregation did not go along with the merger of the GKv and the NGK and sought contact with the Christian Reformed Churches. After a careful procedure, Rev Storm became a pastor within the CGK and the congregation became part of the denomination.
In a special service, Rev Storm preached on 2 Thessalonians 2:15
Be steadfast, brothers and sisters, and stick to the tradition in which you have been taught by us, in word or scripture.
Besides gratitude, there was room for sadness. The Vroomshoop congregation has had a complicated time. "That's why congratulations feel a little too short," Rev Van der Wal said in his address. "I want to wish you God's blessing."
