Drought
In 2023, a violent civil war broke out in Sudan between the government army and rebels. More than 15 million people have since fled violence. Sudan is the country with the largest number of displaced people and the largest crisis of displaced children in the world. From Sudan, many people flee to neighbouring South Sudan or Chad. No one is safe. The food supply situation was already difficult. Now there is real famine.
Drastic consequences
The region has been troubled for a long time, but now 15 million people are threatened with starvation. The government is totally absent from the refugee camps. Relief is coming only sparsely. There is a shortage of everything. One aid worker said: 'In recent years, large groups have been balancing on the brink of famine. Now there is no food because of the conflicts. If no action is taken, millions of people will die of hunger in the coming period, including many children.'
Food and emergency aid
Partner organisations want to offer help precisely where the need is very high: in the refugee camps, where many people have no food. They help with food, medicine and necessary care. In this way, they bring hope where there is despair. Will you help?
