Church planting
In Roman Catholic Italy, few people are familiar with the Bible. Over an hour's drive north-east of Venice, our mission partner Serenissima Ministries is leading a church planting project. Elders in the church are being prepared for deployment to a neighbouring region with thorough training. Their mission is to form a new Christian community there, where the Bible is central.
From the New Testament, these churches stress the importance of discipleship: you get to know the Lord Jesus and start witnessing to Him in all your life. Not imposed, but from within, with genuine interest in the people around you.
LifeLabs: social projects
An important part of the mission are the LifeLabs: practical learning and working spaces that help people integrate, find jobs and develop social skills. Examples of social LifeLabs include music lessons, childcare and activities aimed at neighbourhood building.
An employment project for status holders and the unemployed is an example of a technical LifeLab. Participants receive training as certified MIG or TIG welders and are helped to find jobs.
